Managing Notifications on Navigatr

Stay informed about achievements and updates on Navigatr by managing your notifications. Follow this guide to access and clear your notifications.

Written by Support Desk

Navigatr keeps you up to date on badges, pathways, activities, and admin events through notifications. There are two separate streams: personal notifications for what happens to you as a learner, and admin notifications for the providers and communities you manage.

Learner notifications

Personal notifications appear on the For You tab of your profile. The Profile icon in the navigation shows a red badge with the number of unread items, and the same count appears on the For You tab.

Open the For You tab

  1. Go to your profile page.

  2. Select the For You tab to see your notifications, grouped by Recent, Past month, and Older.

Working with notifications

  • Unread items are highlighted. Selecting one marks it as read and opens the related badge, pathway, activity, community, provider, or settings page.

  • Use the Refresh icon in the toolbar to fetch the latest notifications.

  • Use the Clear All icon (bin) to delete every notification in the list. There is no undo, so only use this once you have actioned anything you need.

Important note: There are no per-notification settings. You cannot mute individual notification types from your profile. Email opt-ins for engagement updates (badges, activities, pathways) are managed in your account settings, covered below.

Admin notifications

If you administrate a provider or community, you also receive a separate admin notifications stream. These cover events on the spaces you manage, not on your personal profile.

  • Open the admin area for your provider or community.

  • Select the bell icon at the top of the admin sidebar to open the admin notifications page. The unread count is shown as a red badge next to the bell, and on the Admin item in your main navigation.

Admin notifications follow you across every provider and community you administrate. Learner notifications stay personal to your own profile.

When you will get a notification

Notifications cover the major events that happen across the platform. As a learner, you can expect:

  • A badge has been awarded to you.

  • A pathway step has been completed, or a whole pathway has been completed.

  • An activity you are attending is starting soon, has moved date or location, or has been cancelled.

  • A pathway you have started is expiring soon.

  • A survey is waiting for your response, or a reminder for one you have not completed yet.

As an admin, you also get notifications for:

  • A new badge has been created or published in your provider.

  • Someone has accepted an invitation to your community or provider.

  • A bulk badge issue has finished, successfully or with partial failures.

  • A pathway you manage is expiring soon, or someone has completed it.

  • Subscription and billing events, such as upcoming renewals, invoices, or expiry reminders.

Email preferences

In-app notifications cannot be switched off, but you can choose which engagement emails Navigatr sends you. To update your preferences:

  1. Go to Settings, then Communications.

  2. Under Send me emails about, toggle the engagement, newsletter, and marketing categories on or off. Admins also see options for subscription and billing emails.

Platform admins always receive system emails and cannot opt out.

Granular email preferences

The Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Navigatr email now opens an email preferences page first, rather than instantly opting you out of everything. From there you can fine-tune what Navigatr sends you.

  • Turn off specific email categories, such as badge claim notifications, survey reminders, the weekly summary, or marketing, without unsubscribing from everything.

  • Keep the emails that matter to you and switch off the ones that do not.

A Turn off all emails option remains available at the bottom of the preferences page if you do want to opt out of everything in one click.
