On Navigatr, an organisation is the body behind the badges, activities, and pathways you come across. It is who issues a badge, runs an activity, or builds a pathway. There are two kinds of organisation: providers and communities.
Providers and communities
The difference comes down to what each one does:
Provider: an organisation that creates and issues badges, and runs activities and pathways. When you earn a badge, a provider is its issuer. Most organisations on Navigatr are providers.
Community: an umbrella organisation that brings several providers together, such as a local authority, a college group, or a sector network. A community has its own page and groups the providers that belong to it.
An organisation's public page
Every organisation has a public page that introduces who they are and brings together everything they have published on Navigatr. You will often arrive at an organisation's page by clicking through from one of its badges or pathways.
Some organisations show a verification check on their page. This means the Navigatr team has confirmed their details, so you can be confident they are who they say they are.
Joining an organisation
You can join a provider or community to become one of its members. On the organisation's public page, click Join and confirm. A short message lets you know the organisation will then be able to see your name and email address. If you are not signed in, you will be asked to create an account or sign in first.
As a member, the organisation can recognise you and see your name and email address. You do not need to be a member to earn a badge, though, and claiming a badge from an organisation usually adds you as a member automatically. See Earning a Badge.
To leave, go to your Settings, find the organisation, and choose Leave Provider or Leave Community. Any badges you have already earned are not affected.
