Navigatr badges are digital credentials issued by organisations to recognise skills, achievements, and learning experiences. This article explains the different ways you can earn one.
How to earn a badge
Via earn link
Some badges include an Earn badge link that takes you to an external site. This could be a quiz, a form, or further instructions on how to earn the badge.
Via activity
Activities are talks, workshops, courses, and events that lead to badges. If the badge is included in any activities, they will be listed on its page. The badge will be issued to you automatically when you attend. See Registering for an Activity and Understanding Your Personal QR Code.
Via pathway completion
Some pathways award a completion badge when you finish them. If a pathway has one, it is shown on the pathway page. Once you complete every step, the badge is issued to you automatically. See Taking Part in a Pathway.
Via direct issue
Some badges can only be issued directly by the provider after you meet their criteria. You can read through the badge page for more information about who can earn the badge, and how.
Contact the provider if you are unsure what you need to do to qualify.
When a badge is issued to you, Navigatr emails you. What you do next depends on the email address the issuer used:
If that address is already on a Navigatr account, the badge is added to your profile for you. It appears in your Badges tab straight away, and the email's View badge button opens it. There is nothing to claim.
If that address is not on a Navigatr account yet, the badge is held for you. The email's Claim badge button takes you to sign up with that address and claim it.
Badges issued automatically, through an activity you attended or a pathway you completed, always go to the account you took part with, so they are always added for you. See Claiming or Viewing Your Badge.
Where your badges live
All badges issued to you appear on your profile under the Badges tab. You can view any badge's full details by clicking on it, including who issued it, when, and the criteria you met.
From your Badges tab you can also share your badges, download a certificate, or check the public verification page. See Sharing Your Achievements, Downloading Your Badge Certificate, and Verifying Your Navigatr Badge.
If a badge you expected hasn't arrived
If you completed something and the badge hasn't appeared, work through these steps.
Check your spam folder. The issuing email can sometimes land there.
Check your notification settings. If you have turned off emails about your engagement with Navigatr content, we do not email you when a badge is issued. The badge is still added to your Badges tab, so look there.
Check which email address the badge was sent to. Badges are sent to the address the issuer entered, which may not be the one you usually sign in with. If it went to a different address, see Adding Multiple Emails to Your Account to link it to your profile.
Rule out a delivery problem. If the email bounced, or you marked it as spam, the badge itself isn't affected. It is still there, and claiming still works once you sign up with that address.
Check where the claim link takes you. If someone else has already claimed the badge, the link opens their public badge page instead.
Contact the issuer. They can confirm whether the badge has been issued and to which address.
If the issuer can't help, contact [email protected].
