QR codes are a key part of how Navigatr works in person. Admins use them to issue badges without collecting email addresses, and learners use them to check in to activities at the venue. This article explains your personal QR code: where to find it, what it does, and how your data stays private.
Note: Are you a Navigatr admin? See Issuing Badges via QR Code for issuing badges to learners in person, or Issuing Badges for Activity Attendance for marking learners attended at an activity.
Your personal QR code
Every Navigatr user has a single personal QR code. It is the same code in every context. An admin can scan it to issue you a badge, or register your attendance at an activity.
Your QR code does not contain any of your personal information. There is no email, no name, and nothing readable on the code itself. It is just a short ID that links to your Navigatr account when an admin scans it.
Important note: Even so, treat your QR code like a password. Anyone who scans it can issue you a badge or mark you as attended, so do not share screenshots publicly or send it to people you do not know.
How to find your QR code
You can open your QR code from two places, depending on what you are doing.
From your profile
Click the profile icon in the navigation menu to open your profile.
Click Show QR Code to display your QR code.
From an activity page
Click Attend on the activity page to register your spot.
Once you are registered, a Show QR Code button appears in the page header. Tap it when you arrive at the venue and the organiser scans it to mark you attended and issue your badge.
Important note: Check-in only works while the activity is live.
Other QR codes
Beyond your personal QR, there are two other QR codes on Navigatr worth knowing about.
Library card barcode. Some Navigatr communities (currently those on Spydus library systems) let you check in with a library card barcode instead of a Navigatr QR. To link your card, see Adding a Library Card to Your Account.
Share QR codes. Badges, activities, and other pages each have a share QR code in their share menu — these encode the page's public URL for sharing and promotion, not personal identity or check-in.
Tip: If your QR code is not showing, or a scan is not going through, contact your community admin first, then [email protected] if the problem continues.
