Issuing Digital Badges

Compare every way to issue a Navigatr badge: email, CSV, QR code, library card, attendance, autobadges, Zapier, and webhooks.

Written by Support Desk

We offer several ways to issue badges. Pick the one that fits how you work. Below is a summary of every option, with a link to the full guide for each method.

Issuing badges via email

The classic method. Add a recipient’s name and email address, and they’ll receive a direct link to claim their badge.

  • Best for: One-off badge issuing.

  • Recipient action: Claim via an email link.

Issuing badges to an organisation

Similar to issuing a badge to an individual via email, but addressed to an organisation rather than a person.

  • Best for: One-off badge issuing to an organisation.

  • Recipient action: Claim via an email link.

Bulk issuing via CSV

Issue badges to many recipients at once by uploading a CSV file.

  • Best for: Bulk issuing for large groups.

  • Recipient action: Claim via an email link.

Issuing badges via QR code

Issue a badge by scanning the recipient’s unique Navigatr QR code, just like tapping a supermarket loyalty card.

  • Best for: In-person events or quick issuing without email.

  • Recipient action: Automatically claimed.

Issuing badges via library card

A no-email method using the barcode on Civica Spydus library cards. Library-goers can check out a book and claim a badge at the same time.

  • Best for: Organisations relying on physical library cards.

  • Recipient action: Automatically claimed.

Issuing badges via an activity

Think of it like Eventbrite with badging. Badges are issued automatically when learners attend a workshop, training session, or event.

  • Best for: Events, workshops, or sessions requiring attendance tracking.

  • Recipient action: Automatically claimed.

Issuing badges via AutoBadges

A fully automated method. AutoBadges issue badges when users meet pre-defined skill-based rules, with no admin action required.

  • Best for: Automated badge issuing based on achievements.

  • Recipient action: Automatically claimed.

Read the full guide: Issuing Badges via AutoBadges.

Issuing badges via pathway completion

Configure a completion badge on a pathway in the editor. When a learner finishes every step of the pathway, the platform issues the badge to them automatically and records the pathway as the source of the award. The badge must come from one of the pathway’s providers.

  • Best for: Multi-step learning journeys with an end-of-pathway reward.

  • Recipient action: Automatically claimed.

Issuing badges via Zapier

Connect Navigatr to thousands of apps through Zapier’s no-code integrations. Trigger a badge automatically when a specific action occurs, such as completing a form, hitting a milestone, or finishing an online course.

  • Best for: Automating badge issuing with LMS platforms, quizzes, forms, and workflows.

  • Recipient action: Claim via an email link.

Issuing badges via webhooks

Webhooks provide an automated way to issue badges based on actions completed on external platforms, such as completing a quiz or submitting a form.

  • Best for: Automating badge issuing from platforms like Riddle, Typeform, or Zoho Forms.

  • Recipient action: Claim via an email link.
