What’s New?


Smart Tags!

We’re excited to introduce Navigatr Smart Tags, powered by Lightcast. This feature makes it easy to add relevant skills tags to badges, pathways, and activities. These tags are based on millions of job postings, ensuring alignment with the skills employers are actively seeking.



How Does It Work?

  • Auto-Complete Suggestions: Start typing tags to see relevant suggestions.
  • Skill Extraction: Use the Suggest button to extract skills from descriptions, criteria, and other content.



Note: Existing tags in your badges, pathways, and activities remain unaffected. You can swap them out with new skills or continue using custom tags if no compatible Lightcast skill is available.


Important Information for Badge Nation Customers

  • Smart tags are not available for badges verified by a third party due to independent quality assurance processes.
  • You can still use smart tags for your pathway and activity content.

Improved Presentation of Cover Photos

We’ve resolved a long-standing issue where cover photo subjects or text were being cut off due to wide aspect ratios. Content without images will no longer leave a gap.


Other Changes


  • Contextual Help: Desktop users will now see helpful tips appear on the right-hand side while editing badges, pathways, and activities.
  • Provider Permissions: When multiple providers issue the same badge, they will now only see recipient data for their issued badges to avoid the need for data-sharing agreements.
  • Discover Enhancements:
    • Discover search now considers badge criteria.
    • Default activity icons now include a splash of colour to indicate their status.
  • Badge Improvements:
    • Original badge images can now be viewed by clicking the badge graphic on the badge page.
    • Skill tags are now displayed under descriptions instead of at the bottom of the page.
    • Adding or removing providers for a badge has been moved to the badge page.
  • Manage Providers: Multiple providers can now manage a badge, but this applies only to badges created on Navigatr.
  • Other Visual Updates:
    • Improved animations during site loading.
    • Users now see visual feedback after updating settings.
    • Password requirements are displayed to new users during sign-up.

  • Resolved issues with saving user preferences.
  • Fixed the "Hello" notification link.
  • Improved the quality of badge images on the Discover page.
  • Optimised login speeds.
  • Various minor improvements and fixes.

API Updates


  • Badge assertions list can now be filtered by provider ID.
  • Improved test coverage to catch regressions during development.
  • Enhanced error handling and introduced caching for faster response times.
  • Increased use of asynchronous processes to improve performance.
  • Badge creation now requires a provider ID.
  • Badge and Badge Assertion endpoints now include a URL for better integration options.
